Ramen Noodles, Great Queso, and Beefy Nachos… Yummy Final 10-Minute Shows

Marsha Little Matthews

The beginning Multimedia Production students finished up the 10-minute “how-to” shows with a slate of cooking shows. Bianca See demonstrates how to make Ramen Noodles special. Jeff Wright gives tips on making a tasty queso from scratch. And Samantha Treder makes some delicious beefy nachos.

The queso and beefy nachos were “kitchen-tested” afterward as everyone “tested” the recipes during an impromptu wrap party. Everyone agreed the queso over chips AND over the beefy nachos was a winner.

These shows concluded the final projects for the spring class of Multimedia Production. The students produced, directed, and designed 12 shows. They also created 12 blogs, Twitter accounts, 12 commercials, 12 photo-audio stories, and numerous mini-projects throughout the semester.

My Blogroll (to the right) contains a link to each student’s blog. Visit the blogs to see their photo-audio stories and other posts. If you watched the 10-minute shows, you’ve seen the commercials.

From my perspective, this was a great semester. Special thanks to Derik Gray, my graduate teaching assistant. Derik engineered the setup for our multimedia classroom/lab, audio lab, and studio control booth and brought to life my vision for the space. He made each piece of equipment I ordered “talk” to one another. I know the students join me in gratitude for Derik’s willingness to help them and teach the many facets of the course. Check out Derik’s Communication Theory site.

Next fall, I’ll begin again with a new roster of students for this course. It’s always an adventure.

  2. Despite audio problems (never heard the announcers except for Bianca’s name on her show), thought it was a great trio of shows to end the productions, with relaxed and well-spoken hosts. All three looked to be having fun with their demonstrations and that came through on camera.

  3. Great shows! I would have maybe painted the “oven” box in Sam’s show, but everyone did a great job!

  4. Bianca’s Ramen Noodles looked interesting, I would have never thought to do anything else to them than just add the water. Excellent ideas! I really liked Jeff’s set design, made me feel like I was tailgating at a football game. And Darby, that’s a really good idea I don’t know why we didn’t do that, it should have been obvious haha.
